King Herod has always been a source of fascination for scholars and the general public. In 2013, the Museum held an exhibition entirely devoted to Israel\u2019s greatest builder and one of the most controversial figures in Jewish history. The exhibition presented large reconstructions and new finds from Herod\u2019s palaces in Herodium, Jericho, and other sites. \u00a0Shown to the public for the very first time, these artifacts shed light on the political, architectural, and aesthetic significance of Herod\u2019s rule in Judea (37\u20134 BCE). Herod\u2019s tomb \u2013 discovered at Herodium after a forty-year search by the late Prof. Ehud Netzer of the Hebrew University, held pride of place in this blockbuster exhibition, which drew crowds such as had never been seen before in an archaeological exhibition.
