Bodyscapes

Bodyscapes examines the ways in which the human body has served as a structure to organize knowledge and understand the world. Bringing together more than 150 works dating from the eighth century BCE to the present in a wide variety of media, this lavishly illustrated exhibition catalogue comprises four scholarly essays, short texts illuminating individual works, and a rich image album, interspersed with maps, calendars, and other artifacts from different cultures and periods. Modern and contemporary artists featured include the such as Robert Mappelthorpe, Bill Brandt, Pesi Girsch, Kiki Smith, Tracey Emin, and Jenny Saville.
