The multifaceted Avner Katz was well known on Israel’s cultural scene for his work as an illustrator, author, and artist – a creative output filled with irony and a touch of the absurd, as well as a love of humanity. This Hebrew book was published for the Israel Museum exhibition Avner Katz: “I Have Already Been” which centered on a series of hundreds of daily self-portraits Katz drew in the months leading up to his 80th birthday. Curatorial essays and texts by close friends offer verbal portraits of this special person of blessed memory, while images of the entire series and excerpts from his sketch book portray the man in his own words and pictures.
