Exodus from Egypt – Passover Seder Plate and Saucers
On the edge of the plate are inscribed the three words that, according to Rabban Gamliel, every person must say on the night of the Seder: Pesach, Matzah, and Maror. In the center is an illustration that perhaps represents the Exodus from Egypt. It is likely that it was taken from printed illustrations that were distributed at the end of the 19th century and had an Orientalist character – a movement that often depicted the sights of the East in an imaginary way. The plate is accompanied by 6 matching saucers.
