1967: Micha Bar-Am, Logbook
In 1967 Micha Bar-Am, doyen of Israeli photojournalism, produced unforgettable images related to the Six-Day War and other public events of this watershed year. He also photographed the events of his personal and family life during the same year, which saw the birth of his son Barak. Fifty years later, this presentation of Bar-Am’s photographs – capturing celebrated figures and private individuals; war, its aftermath, and everyday life – vividly evokes 1967 through his acute lens. The book also features a curatorial essay by Noam Gal; an introduction by Orna Bar-Am, who has kept the photographer’s logbooks and managed his archive for more than half a century; and examples of logbook pages and contact sheets that bring his work process to life.
