Pharaoh’s Animal Kingdom Dominoes

The domino game “The Pharaoh’s Animal Kingdom” consists of 7 hieroglyphic figures of animals that existed in ancient Egypt.

The game was produced in collaboration with the Archaeology Department at the Israel Museum as part of the “The Pharaoh’s Animal Kingdom” exhibition.

The characters in the game:

The scarab – was a symbol of protection and good luck in Egypt.

The cobra snake – was a symbol of royalty and protection in Egypt.

The duck – was a symbol of abundance and renewal in Egypt.

The owl – was a symbol of the mysteries of the world of the dead in Egypt.

The cat – was a symbol of protection in Egypt.

The hippopotamus – was a symbol of fertility and life in Egypt.

The lion – was a symbol of power and royalty in Egypt.

More than 5,000 years ago, ancient Egyptian culture grew on the banks of the Nile River. In this culture, animals were given a place of honor. Many of them lived on the Nile, on its green banks and in the deserts beyond. The ancient Egyptians lived alongside them and other animals they brought from far away. The animals were important to them, they used them to perform various tasks and even raised them as pets.
